What is NAD+?
NAD+ is actually a crucial enzyme that's found in all living cells and it helps to support our energy production, our overall metabolism and cellular repair. So you can see how very important this would be. So let's break it down a little bit further.
Key Functions of NAD+

So NAD+ really does support our energy production. So essentially it works within our Krebs cycle to turn or convert our food into energy or what we call within the cell. A TP NAD+ also helps to support the repair of our DNA. It actually activates an enzyme that helps to do so, and also it helps in inflammation reduction and in extending the lifespan. NAD+ also helps in the metabolism and cellular health, so it actually works or supports our mitochondria, and that's that energy powerhouse in our cells, and it also will help to give us more efficient metabolism this way.
Now, in addition to that, NAD+ also helps to support our brain and nervous system. So it actually helps the neurotransmitters signaling, and this can help NAD+ helps to keep or protect us against Alzheimer's or dementia. And another area that NAD+ also supports is going to be our circadian rhythm, meaning that it helps to control our body's awake and sleep cycles. And so if they get disrupted, we know we're going to either be awake all night and not getting good sleep. And so kind of thinking about is NAD+ something that could be beneficial for you?
Why NAD+ Declines
So now we know what NAD+ does within our body, and what happens is that it actually declines with age and we can make it worse or we can make it better. But NAD+ naturally over time will decline with our age and it reduces our energy or our metabolism or even an increased risk of age-related diseases.
So in addition to just being a natural thing, we lose while we get older. There's also other factors that will diminish it even more, which would be poor diet, excessive alcohol consumption, which would also further deplete those NAD+ levels. So we know that NAD+ naturally decreases with age.
How to Naturally Boost NAD+
And if you have not had a real healthy diet or have been drinking more in the past, what can you do to help support your NAD levels? And the number one thing that we can do is exercise. And exercise naturally helps to support or increase our NAD supply within the body and specifically aerobic exercise. Now, this doesn't mean you need to go run a marathon, but incorporating walking within your day, even doing machines like the elliptical machine or biking if you love to bike and the season is changing now so we can get outside more. Just incorporating some aerobic cardio each day can really help support those NAD levels.
Now also to help support will be dietary changes. So consuming foods that are higher in NAD+, which is going to be foods like sardines and salmon and tuna fruits like blueberries. Adding in dairy products like milk or vegetables, which is not a dairy product, but adding in milk can also increase those NAD levels, really getting foods that are high in B three or niacin. So one is like chicken breasts for example, or those fish that I was speaking about, kind of consuming really just an overall healthy whole foods diet in general. Sometimes we can go down the rabbit hole with, I need to eat so much of this food so that I can improve this. But so often if we just get rid of processed packaged foods, we naturally start eating more of those without really even having to put much thought into it.
Now, another thing you can do to help improve our your NAD+ levels is practice intermittent fasting. Now, this is not for everybody, but it's been around for years. And if you are open to trying something like that, that can be helpful in improving those levels. Also, maybe after you do some aerobic work, you jump in the sauna. Sauna can really increase those NAD levels naturally and also getting good sleep. And I always talk about sleep it seems like in every video, but sleep is so critical to our overall wellbeing and what we're talking about today, the NAD levels.
NAD+ Supplement Review: Should You Take One?
So if you're thinking, yep, I'm moving into my up in the years, let's say, right, you're aging naturally. Your NAD is declining, you feel like you just want to really do everything to support your body as you possibly can, and you're eating a whole foods diet, but maybe you have some gut issues and that's impacting some of your dietary choices, you can always add in an NAD+ supplement.
And really following the packaging label will be a good recommended rule of thumb. I will link a product down below that is a very good product, and if you want to try it, that would be a real safe one to do. You would take two capsules with water, it can be with food or without food, and see if we can bring up those NAD levels to improve your energy, improve your clarity, and improve some DNA repair there.
So I hope this NAD+ Supplement Review video gave you some more information just about how can you support yourself overall. Because I think of NAD as kind of an overall systemic that helps so many things. And it's the things that, yes, as we age, we start to feel a little more tired, a little more brain fog, a little more like we're getting old and do we need to, right? So again, I'll link that product down below and feel free to check it out.
